Erling Haaland scored his 100th goal in the Premier League, in match number 111. He became the fastest player to reach 100 goals in Premier League history.
Erling Haaland surpasses Alan Shearer: “I'm proud”
The Norwegian forward overtook the legendary Alan Shearer, who needed 123 games to score 100 Premier League goals. The Englishman is the all-time top scorer of the championship, with 260 goals scored.
At the end of the game with Fulham, Haaland did not hide his pride for this achievement.
“It's fantastic and I'm very proud. Of course it's incredible, to be part of the 100-goal club is great and I'm happy. I knew about this milestone and I was trying to reach it. I'm trying to help the team score goals, it's my job.
If I expect to score in every game? I don't want to say it, but when you're a striker at Manchester City, you have to put up good numbers. It's my job, people should criticize me if I don't and I usually do. I have to fulfill my duty”, said Haaland, for Sky Sports, quoted by abola.pt.
In a match in which the “citizens” led 5-1 and ended up suffering at the end, Haaland also praised Fulham's team, coached by Marco Silva, and played down the fact that the Manchester side closed the gap on Premier League leaders Arsenal.
“It's important, Arsenal came here and won. Fulham are a big team but we shouldn't think too much about Arsenal. We have to focus on ourselves, today it wasn't good enough and we know that. We have to improve as a team and that's what we're going to do,” he concluded.
