In Krasnoyarsk, a pensioner gave 1.5 million rubles to scammers, despite the warnings of the police. The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the region spoke about this.

In November, an 84-year-old woman came to one of the banks in Krasnoyarsk with a request to withdraw more than 1 million rubles from her account. The pensioner told employees of the financial institution that she needed money to install monuments on the graves of her husband and son. The elderly woman was so convincing that the specialists gave her the required amount, but sent police officers to her just in case.

The pensioner assured law enforcement officers that she was not under the influence of criminals, knew who the scammers were, and would not give her savings to anyone. However, on the last day of autumn, she came to the police department and stated that she had become a victim of scammers.

“The scammers convinced an elderly Krasnoyarsk woman to transfer all her savings to a “safe account.” In total, the pensioner gave the attackers more than 1.5 million rubles, which she withdrew from accounts in several banks,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.

Now a criminal case has been opened on this fact under Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Fraud”.
