Four people are officially being investigated by the Prosecutor's Office in Rome in connection with the collapse of part of the Torre dei Conti, a historic building in the area of the Imperial Forums, which collapsed on November 3 and caused the death of Romanian worker Octav Stroici, aged 66, who was trapped under the rubble for more than 11 hours.

It is about three architects and an engineer, including the site manager, who were officially charged, about a month after the incident, following the investigations ordered by the magistrates in Piazzale Clodio.

According to the Roma Today publication, one of the ordered investigations could concern the detailed technical analysis of the materials and debris resulting from the collapse.

The case concerns accusations of “culpable disaster, manslaughter and culpable bodily harm”, committed by violating the rules on the prevention of occupational accidents.

According to preliminary information, investigators are analyzing the possibility that the collapse was caused by an error in the structural risk assessment of the building, which was in the process of restoration, as well as possible deficiencies in the validation of the technical design.

We remind you that the tragedy in which Octav Stroici lost his life took place on November 3, around 11:00, in Largo Corrado Ricci, when part of the Torre dei Conti collapsed, the alert being given by both workers and passers-by.

Around 12:50, during the intervention of the rescue teams, there was a second collapse, which affected the upper floors of the structure and generated a dense cloud of dust and debris.

Octav Stroici, one of the four workers on the scene, was pulled alive from the rubble after about 11 hours, being rushed to the Umberto I Hospital, but he died a short time later from his serious injuries.
