On Tuesday, Vladimir Putin appointed Sergei Andreev as Russia's ambassador to Slovakia. The relevant decree on this matter was published on official Russian government websites. Pursuant to other decrees, Putin released Andreyev from his duties as ambassador to Poland and Igor Brachikov from his duties as ambassador to Slovakia.

The past of Sergei Andreev

Sergei Andreev has been performing diplomatic functions since 1980 – then he graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations of the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He started working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then served as Russia's ambassador to Portugal, and then to Angola and Norway. In 2003–2006 and 2010–2014 he was Director of the General Secretariat, and also became a member of the College of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Andreev had been working at the Russian embassy in Poland since 2014. The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned him urgently, among other things. in 2016. It was a reaction to his words on TVN24. — Polish policy led to this catastrophe in September 1939, because during the 1930s, Poland repeatedly blocked the building of a coalition against Nazi Germany through its policy. In 2018, he became famous again thanks to an interview he gave to the Russian daily “Kommersant”. “We will not forget and we will not forgive. Until the eternal debt of gratitude to the Soviet soldiers who died here is recognized in Poland, without any reservations, and as long as the current scandalous situation lasts, when the liberators are called occupiers, we have nothing to talk about on historical matters at the official level,” said the diplomat.
