The German language dictionary Duden has updated the list of “word monsters” – the longest words
The word came first Grundstücksverkehrsgenehmigungszuständigkeitsübertragungsverordnung, which consists of 67 letters and is translated as “the rule on the transfer of jurisdiction when authorizing a transaction with a land plot.” Also included in the top:
Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch (58 letters) is a community in the south of the island of Anglesey in north-west Wales;
Straßenentwässerungsinvestitionskostenschuldendienstumlage (58 letters) – deductions for debt service for investments in road drainage;
Kurzfristenergieversorgungssicherungsmaßnahmenverordnung (56 letters) – a rule on short-term measures to ensure the security of energy supply;
Erdachsendeckelscharnierschmiernippelkommission (47 letters) – commission for lubrication of nipples for earth axle covers.
