Răzvan Marin, eliminated in the Athens city derby: “He protested vehemently”

Răzvan Marin (29 years old), the player from AEK Athens, was on the field in his team's 3-2 victory in the “Athens city derby” against Panathinaikos.

The Romanian international midfielder came on as a substitute at the start of the second half and received two yellow cards within 35 minutes.

AEK Athens prevailed on Sunday evening, away, score 3-2, against Panathinaikos, in the 12th stage of the Greek championship. Răzvan Marin was eliminated for two yellow cards received within 35 minutes.

AEK were leading 2-0 when Marin entered the field. Serbian Luka Jovic opened the scoring in the 16th minute and also scored in the 45th+2nd minute, from a penalty kick. In the 50th minute, Marin received the first yellow card following a foul. 35 minutes later, the Romanian midfielder saw his second yellow card, following a duel that sparked discussions in the media in Greece.

“Referee Schroeder decided that Marin stepped on Filip Djuricic and awarded him the second yellow card. In turn, the Romanian protested vehemently, but the decision of the center did not change”, wrote the Greeks from gazzetta.gr.

Ahmed Touba (Panathinaikos) was eliminated in the 64th minute, and then Răzvan Marin also left his team with ten players, so the numerical balance was restored in the “Athens city derby”.

Due to the suspension, Marin will miss the match against OFI, from the 4th stage of the league phase of the Greek Cup.

AEK won 3-2

Things went well until the end of the game, with AEK winning 3-2 to make it 4 consecutive wins in all competitions.
