T2, a Russian mobile operator, analyzed the dynamics of VoLTE use by customers in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
Already 66% of subscribers whose devices support the option make calls on the LTE network. The service provides instant connection with the interlocutor, high sound quality and the absence of extraneous noise.
In less than a year since its launch, the average duration of calls made by T2 users in the Krasnoyarsk Territory using VoLTE technology has grown to 300 million minutes per month. The top three device brands whose owners spoke the most on the 4G network were Samsung, Redmi and Tecno.
VoLTE in the T2 network is supported by more than 500 smartphone models. In the 4G coverage area, the technology connects automatically or when the corresponding settings are activated in the smartphone menu. In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the 4G T2 network is available in the territory where more than 95% of the region's population lives.
The technology allows you to transmit voice calls over the LTE network and at the same time provides a continuous connection to high-speed Internet: the client can talk on the phone without stopping the current session or Internet distribution in modem mode.
It’s easy to enable VoLTE: in the gadget settings you need to find the section related to managing mobile communications and SIM cards. If the smartphone supports VoLTE, a corresponding item will be displayed in the parameters, which will allow you to activate the service in one click. Calls are charged as regular voice traffic.
The T2 operator quickly implemented VoLTE technology in all regions of its presence. In three months of 2024, the company was able to deploy the service in 69 regions, in 22 of them this process was implemented using Russian-made equipment.
