Krasnoyarsk residents were given advice on how to survive the “weather swing”

December 1 12:25
The regional Ministry of Health told residents of the region how to cope with sudden changes in weather conditions and maintain health.
“Weather swing” is a popular and very accurate name for rapid and unexpected changes in meteorological factors. The main feature of such fluctuations is their suddenness and sharpness. Rapid weather changes become a serious test for the body, since the body does not have time to adapt to such changes. Elderly people, children, weather-sensitive citizens and patients with chronic diseases are especially vulnerable during such periods. The reason is the inability of the vessels to respond in a timely manner to changes in atmospheric pressure.
This period increases the likelihood of hypertensive crises, heart attacks and strokes. People begin to complain of headaches, dizziness, and tinnitus. Patients with neurological disorders experience increased irritability, anxiety, and sleep disturbances.
Those who have diseases of the musculoskeletal system experience exacerbation of pain in the joints and back. Arthritis, arthrosis, and osteochondrosis worsen, and discomfort in the joints and spine intensifies with increased air humidity. Complications of chronic respiratory and digestive diseases may appear. People who are sensitive to the weather experience reduced attention and productivity, and a feeling of fatigue.
The chief physician of the Krasnoyarsk Regional Center for Public Health and Medical Prevention, Irina Sergeeva, gave practical recommendations on how to alleviate the condition in such weather:
“We are used to monitoring the weather forecast, so knowing in advance about possible fluctuations can help us prepare mentally and physically. In the morning, when you wake up, do not rush to jump out of bed immediately, lie down for a couple of minutes, stretch and get up smoothly. During significant changes in temperature and pressure, it is recommended to avoid intense physical activity and reduce the consumption of coffee, strong tea, energy drinks and alcohol, as they create extra stress on the vascular system. It is recommended to drink more pure water to maintain fluid balance and stabilize blood pressure. It is important to maintain a normal daily routine, rest and a balanced diet,” the doctor shared her recommendations.
Irina Sergeeva added that medications should be taken exclusively as prescribed by the attending physician and strictly follow the prescribed treatment regimens. To maintain the nervous system, it is useful to use herbal infusions and take walks in the fresh air. According to her, an excellent remedy (if there are no contraindications) is to take relaxing baths with the addition of pine needle extract or sea salt.
Let us remind you that last weekend there was a “collapse” of cold weather in Krasnoyarsk. Thermometers dropped to −24, −30 °C. This week, according to forecasters, the weather in the city should improve. On Tuesday, December 2, they promise from −1 to −13 °C.
