Frosts test Krasnoyarsk road workers' strength

Severe Siberian frosts complicate the process of snow removal in Krasnoyarsk. At temperatures below -30°C, problems arise with the functioning of the hydraulic mechanisms of special equipment.

To minimize risks, specialists from the Krasnoyarsk Department of Roads, Infrastructure and Improvement took the following measures:

• Pre-trip control over the serviceability of heating systems in all vehicles entering the line was strengthened;
• the dispatch service began to closely monitor unplanned equipment downtime and quickly make decisions on evacuation in the event of a breakdown;
• special attention began to be paid to maintaining the thermal circuit in boxes and repair shops;
• manual labor teams were given additional warm-up breaks to ensure employees could work in comfortable conditions.

Today, despite the frosts, street cleaning in Krasnoyarsk is carried out by more than 80 units of specialized equipment and about 160 workers. According to the Office, the main highways of the city have now been cleared to black asphalt.

Work to maintain the road network goes on around the clock.
