Angola achieved another convincing victory at the Women's Handball World Championship: 34-23 against South Korea. Albertina Kassoma, the pivot of Rapid Bucharest, was the best scorer of the African country, but missed out on the “player of the match” award.
After the success against Kazakhstan in the inaugural round (38-20)Angola faced South Korea in the Trier Arena in Germany in front of over 3000 spectators. The national team led by Carlos Viver, the coach of Gloria Bistrita, needed another success without problems, to approach the confrontation with Norway on December 1 with high morale.
Albertina Kassoma, excellent in attack, Marta Alberto, incredible parades in the goal of Angola
If the defense did not work as well as in the match against Kazakhstan, instead, the offense went excellently and Angola managed 19 goals in the first half. A similar second sequence followed and a 34-23 victory for the African team.
However, the 11-goal difference may not fully reflect reality, given that Marta Samuel Albertothe goalkeeper of Angola, had an exceptional day. She made 18 saves, had a save percentage of 45% and was named “player of the match”.
Perhaps, on a weaker day of Alberto, the Asian women would have managed to stay closer to the Angolans. in attack Albertina Kassomathe pivot of Rapid Bucharest, was on a day of grace. She signed up 9 goals, i.e. more than 25% of his team's successes.
Dolores Rosario contributed with 6 goals, while Vilma Nenganga had 5 successes in the opposing goal.
On the other side, the leaders of the Asian women were Yeongyeong Lee (6 goals), Jiyeon Jeon (4 goals) and Boeun Gim (4 goals).
Monday, December 1, starting at 9:30 p.mAngola will have a first test at this World Championship, meeting Norway, the multiple European, World and Olympic champions.
