The search for the missing young Briton in the Bucegi Mountains has been temporarily suspended. The snow is over two meters in some areas

Search operations for the 18-year-old from Great Britain, who disappeared in the Bucegi Mountains a week ago, will be resumed as soon as the weather allows the interventions to continue safely. Until then, field missions are temporarily suspended due to extremely difficult weather conditions, Salvamont Brașov announced on Saturday.

According to mountain rescuers, no new information has been identified to help the search teams.
“Search actions continued without interruption both yesterday and today, with more than 20 mountain rescuers being mobilized. Salvamont teams checked several areas, resumed previously traveled routes and carried out new searches in the original area. Unfortunately, these efforts have not led to the identification of any new relevant information until now. We note that in some places, the snow exceeds two meters”, Salvamont Brașov sent on Facebook.
“Considering the severe deterioration of the weather conditions, field operations will be temporarily suspended, for the safety of mountain rescuers and the efficiency of the intervention. The search will be resumed as soon as the evolution of the weather will allow the activities to be carried out in optimal conditions, and the teams will continue the complete survey of the Șigănești Valley and the adjacent areas”Salvamont representatives also specified.

Rescuers: 'We are making every effort to find George'
Salvamont Brașov sends all its support to the young man's family and appeals to the public for understanding and decency in these difficult moments.
George, 18, called for rescuers last Sunday in an advanced state of exhaustion and hypothermia. Rescuers searched the area all night, but to no avail.
In the following days, the search continued intensively, and in one of the missions a backpack with equipment was discovered, later handed over to the Police.
For the first time, the mountain rescuers from Brasov also used a Black Hawk helicopter of the General Aviation Inspectorate on Wednesday, to quickly transport the teams to the hard-to-reach areas of the Bucegi massif.
The search will continue as soon as the weather permits safe interventions.
