The rescuers continue, on Saturday, to look for the teenager who disappeared in the Bucegi Mountains a week ago. Rescuers from two counties participate in the operation.
“The teams recreated the route taken by him, but, unfortunately, no new conclusive elements were identified. Today, three mountain rescuers from Harghita County joined the operations, supporting the search efforts. We are checking several areas where the person could have moved after abandoning the backpack, most likely to make his way easier, given the difficulty of the route and the accumulated fatigue”, he said. on Saturday, the director of Salvamont Braşov, Sebastian Marinescu, quoted by News.ro.
The search action is taking place in “significantly difficult” field conditions, considering the state of the weather, but also the accumulated fatigue among the rescuers who have been participating in the search for days.
“We remain deeply determined to continue the search. Our priority is to find him as soon as possible and to give the family an answer, at a time that is already extremely difficult for those close to him,” Sebastian Marinescu said, thanking those involved, especially the volunteers participating in the search.
Been looking for a week
Last Sunday. a young man in an advanced state of exhaustion and hypothermia asked the mountain rescuers for help, who searched for him all night, to no avail.
The searches continued in the following days, also without success. Instead, the mountain rescuers discovered a backpack with equipment in the area indicated by the tourist, which was handed over to the Police.
Brasov mountain rescuers used, on Wednesday, for the first time, a Black Hawk helicopter of the General Aviation Inspectorate, so that the intervention teams could be quickly taken to the hard-to-reach parts of the massif.
Although they used all available technical means, including a drone equipped with a thermal imaging camera, the young man was not found.

On Friday evening, the photo of the 18-year-old who is wanted was made public, and people who saw the young man or who have relevant information were asked to contact the authorities.
“The family asks us to share the photo of George, the person who has been missing since Sunday evening in the Bucegi Mountains. Despite sustained efforts, he has not been located to date, although search actions have been carried out daily, with resources constantly adapted to the conditions on the ground.
According to the information, the missing person left Poiana Brașov on Sunday morning, with Bran as his destination. According to the data, he crossed the Diham – Tache Ionescu area, and later arrived in the Țigănești area, where he requested support through 112. We mention that he was wearing the jacket in the photo.
