Elections for the capital city hall: Teachers from Bucharest, meeting with Daniel Băluță / A school director accuses that the invitations were made by the School Inspectorate

More than 200 teachers participated, on Thursday, at Romexpo, in an event organized by an association led by Lavinia Şandru, a member of the PUSL party, who announced her support for Daniel Băluță at the Capital City Hall. Among them was the general school inspector from Bucharest, Florian Lixandru, former secretary of state in the Ministry of Education with the support of the PSD, who also gave a speech. He is accused that the institution he leads was the one that mobilized the teachers, an accusation he denies.

The event on Thursday evening at Romexpo was not made public and was organized by the European Environmental Initiative Association, led by Lavinia Şandru.

The teachers were invited to the political event, held during the electoral campaign for the elections in Bucharest, being informed that Daniel Băluță, the PSD candidate in the December 7 election, would participate.

The invitations were launched, accused by a school director, by the management of the School Inspectorate of the Municipality of Bucharest (ISMB). He wished to remain anonymous, but criticized the involvement of the ISMB leadership.

The teaching staff indicated two people from the management of the institution: the deputy general school inspector Ruxandra-Eugenia Regalia (who was a PSD local councilor in Sector 1 of the Capital, in the period 2020-2024) and the inspector of Sector 1, Florentina Ecaterina Costea (who, in 2024, ran for a deputy in the Chamber of Deputies from the PSD side).

“We did not facilitate anything. It was a conference of us, of the teaching staff”

Contacted by HotNews, Ruxandra-Eugenia Regalia denied that she was involved in the teachers' mobilization. “Who made this claim? Because I am able to sue him,” the deputy general school inspector reacted.

“I didn't facilitate anything. I'm going to kindly ask you to get in touch with Mr. General School Inspector and discuss with him the problem you presented to me. I didn't call any director. So in my free time I do what I want. I can go to the theater, to the restaurant, wherever I want,” she continued.

She also said that it was about “a conference of us, of the teaching staff”.

“It was his business if he was present, I didn't call Mr. Băluță. Go directly to the organizer, I told you to talk to Mr. Lixandru,” continued Ruxandra-Eugenia Regalia, who also said that she has known Daniel Băluță since 2006.

Contacted by HotNews, the school inspector from Sector 1, Florentina Ecaterina Costea, did not want to discuss when she found out the topic of the discussion.

Lavinia Şandru claims that she invited several candidates to the mayor's office. They deny it

Asked about the event, the president of the European Environmental Initiative Association, Lavinia Şandru, says that more than 200 teachers participated. How did the invitation reach them? “From teacher to teacher, through schools,” she says. She denies that representatives of the School Inspectorate helped her with the invitations.

“Mr. Inspector General also came, he spoke. He didn't help me this time. In general, we help each other when it comes to student involvement, but not this time”, according to Lavinia Şandru.

Lavinia Șandru also claimed that “it was a debate that I wanted to make much more extensive, in the sense that I invited other candidates and parliamentarians from Bucharest, including local councilors”.

“But only Mr. Băluță came… Now what should I do?”, Lavinia Şandru reacted.

HotNews contacted the campaign teams of several candidates, and they said they had not received such an invitation.

The general school inspector from Bucharest: “It was an activity outside the working hours”

The general school inspector from Bucharest, Florian Lixandru, said that he did not know if ISMB employees had sent invitations to school principals and teachers to participate in the event:

“The organizers were the European Ecological Initiative Association. The teachers went there at the invitation of the organizers, it was an activity outside the working hours, in the evening. I was also invited and present there, like Mrs. Regalia and like everyone else there,” declared Lixandru.

In 2020, Lixandru ran on the PSD list for the General Council of the Municipality of Bucharest, from where he resigned when he left as secretary of state in the Ministry of Education, in 2022, also supported by the PSD.
