The judging commission, chaired by the First Deputy General Director – Chief Engineer of the Boguchanskaya HPP, Alexander Chainikov, summed up the results of the competition between the teams of five watches of the Operational Service.

35 employees took part in the competition; the shift under the leadership of the power plant shift supervisor, Peter Ivanov, was recognized as the best. In the individual competition, the best by profession were power plant shift supervisor Maxim Fedorov, turbine room shift supervisor Pavel Builov, hydraulic unit operator Andrey Vasin, substation maintenance electrician Roman Klyuiko and substation maintenance engineer Ivan Buga.

“The results of the teams’ performances are reflected both in the final protocol and in a special report, where the judges rated each team, gave a general assessment of the employees’ knowledge and noted typical mistakes. So far, we can note the good results of the young employees and the help provided to them by experienced comrades. All information received will be analyzed, and based on the results of this analysis, we will form a team at the Boguchanskaya HPP to participate in the next All-Russian competitions for operational personnel,” said Vladislav Nikitin, head of the Operations Service.

The main goal of the competition, which lasted from April to November 2025, was to test the knowledge, level of theoretical training and skills of operatives, increase their professionalism to ensure reliable and safe operation of hydroelectric power station equipment, and reduce the number of errors in personnel actions.

The competition was divided into six stages, which included theoretical (knowledge of documentation, maintaining the energy regime, providing first aid to the “victim”) and practical (producing operational switching, emergency training, maintaining the water-energy regime of the station) tasks. Participants performed tasks on a special simulator, filled out operational logs and switching forms, and performed combined tasks – according to the script laid out in the simulator, and written and oral input from the refereeing team.

Based on the results of the competition, the judges – heads of departments of the Boguchanskaya HPP, specialists in equipment operation and labor protection – made recommendations to include additional tasks in the plan of special training of personnel to study in detail a number of issues. Members of the winning team and the best in their profession will receive a personal salary increase.

All-Russian competitions for HPP operating personnel have been held once every two years since 2005; their goal is to improve the level of professional training of employees and disseminate advanced work methods. The tenth All-Russian competition was held in 2024, and became the most representative – 29 teams took part in the qualifying tests, ten reached the finals. The Boguchanskaya HPP team took part in the regional stage of the All-Russian competition for the first time in 2014; in 2018 and 2022, power engineers from Kodinsk reached the finals and took 3rd place.
