Slope D of the ski complex in Sibiu will be open to the public from Saturday. This was arranged with canned snow.
It is about 10,000 cubic meters of snow from last year that were kept under a special tarp, through a process known as snow-farming, according to Mediafax.
“This system allows early opening of the slopes and stability of the snowpack, complementing the artificial production and reducing the exclusive dependence on natural snowfall”claim the representatives of the resort.
Also on Saturday, around noon, the first apres-ski party of the season will take place, with the band Los Vagabondos.
Competition on the slope
On Friday, the “Special Parallel Slalom” competition will be organized on the slope on a route of approximately 200 meters.
Competitors will be tested on slalom gates and at least two technical ramps.
“The competition will begin with controlled skid recognition, followed by timed practice heats with two athletes simultaneously descending parallel courses. In the qualifiers, each skier will complete the course against the clock, and the times obtained will decide the formation of two-person groups for the final duels. The format is knockout: the winners of each heat advanceuntil only four athletes remain for the small final and the grand final“, announce the organizers.
The minimum age to participate in the competition is 13 years, and the prizes consist of sports equipment provided by sponsors and money. The total value of the prizes in products is over 10,000 lei.
