Place this in the cellar – and after a couple of days there will be no trace of mold left. Working old-fashioned method

Gardeners noted that growing vegetables is only half the battle, but preserving the harvest until spring is a real art that requires knowledge and the right approach to arranging a cellar.

One of the causes of crop rot is mold. It appears in the cellar due to excess moisture and condensation and is the biggest enemy for the crop.

“But there is a time-tested, reliable and cost-effective way of fighting, which our grandfathers and great-grandfathers knew about. In the modern world, they have begun to forget about it, giving preference to desiccants or chemicals. We are talking about using quicklime, which can be found in any hardware store,” said the gardeners.

How to use lime

Due to its characteristics, quicklime absorbs moisture from the environment, acting as an air dehumidifier. Pour lime into an iron, ceramic or plastic container and place it in the cellar in areas where mold accumulates the most.

Lime will not only dry the air, but also disinfect it. In just a few days, the walls in the cellar will become drier, the smell of dampness will disappear, and not a trace of mold will remain.
