Achinets received a suspended sentence for a scam involving the purchase of equipment with a subsidy

In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, a man was sentenced to a suspended sentence for fraud, the regional prosecutor's office reported.

In September 2023, a 31-year-old entrepreneur from Achinsk, who was engaged in the production of fuel pellets and briquettes from sawdust, applied to the city administration for a subsidy for business development. He provided all the necessary documents and received 294 thousand rubles for the purchase of new equipment.

But instead of new equipment, which was stipulated in the terms of assistance from the state, the man found a used machine on an advertisement website. To justify the purchase, he independently prepared forged documents: a false purchase and sale agreement for equipment and a check for the amount of 285 thousand rubles. The entrepreneur presented the documents to the administration as a report.

According to the prosecutor's office, the Achin resident explained to the investigation and the court that he had no criminal intent, but this did not save him from initiating a criminal case for fraud (Part 3 Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The court sentenced the entrepreneur to 1.5 years of suspended imprisonment. During the investigation, he fully compensated for the damage caused.
