Utility workers in Krasnoyarsk have gone on high alert due to the upcoming cold snap

A high alert mode was announced at KrasKom due to the sudden cold snap.

According to the forecast of the Central Siberian Hydrometeorological Center, after today's thaw, the icy air of the Arctic will bring a sharp cooling to the regional capital. Over three days, the “weather swing” of 30 degrees will test the strength of engineering communications.

Since the cold will rapidly penetrate the ground, there may be an increase in damage to pipelines at the border of different surfaces (lawn, road, buildings) due to soil movement

During the period of passage of a cold atmospheric front through Krasnoyarsk, all scheduled repairs that require shutting off cold water are canceled, except for emergency work to eliminate technological violations in water supply networks.

“Due to the fact that the coldest days are expected in the coming Saturday-Sunday, we strongly recommend that services operating detached buildings – kindergartens, schools and other organizations that do not work on weekends – ensure at least minimal cold water collection so that the water supply networks do not freeze over,” notes Oleg Goncherov, general director of KrasKom. — Residents of the private sector are also recommended to periodically open the water at home in order to preserve private water pipelines. For our part, we take control of the operation of water dispensers in the private sector so that they work even in cold weather.”

Utility workers remind you of simple rules for operating street water intakes:

• when drawing water, the handle of the rod should be pressed all the way to create high pressure;
• draw at least 6-8 liters of water at one time, otherwise it will freeze in one hour already at minus 10 ℃;
• It is forbidden to block the levers, leaving the water open.
