director Remus Achim, known for the productions “In the heart of the National” and “Soul Generation”, confesses that: “Mutu – Il Fenomeno is not a film only about football. It is an experience, an incursion into the life of a man pursued by glory, choices and consequences.
I built the documentary with the pace of a thriller and the intensity of a confession, without make-up, without protection, without a mask. It is the story of a destiny that accelerates, breaks, explodes and rebuilds itself.
A story about falling and getting back up, about value, vulnerability and the battle you have, first and foremost, with yourself. For me, “Il Fenomeno” is not just a movie. It's a truth spoken on camera. A truth that breathes, presses and stays”.
Structured in four episodes, the miniseries begins with “Rebel Superstar”an episode dedicated to the meteoric rise and talent that redefined audience expectations, continues with “Beyond the Land”a foray into the athlete's relationships and personal universe.
The third episode, “Free Fall”explores the moments of doping, scandal and loss that led to the steepest collapse of his career, because in the end, “Reconciled with the Road” to capture the reconstruction process, the maturation, the transition to coaching and the new meaning that Mutu gives to his life today.
In the documentary, national and international stars such as Gheorghe Hagi, Răzvan Raț, Ciprian Marica, Cesare Prandelli or Francesco Totti were interviewed, offering unique perspectives on Adrian Mutu's career and personality.
