Amendments suggested by Ukraine to the peace plan proposed by the US are still being finalized, and the most difficult issues are to be resolved by the presidents of the two states, a member of the Kiev delegation told local media, according to CNN.

Oleksandr Bevz, an adviser to the presidential chief of staff and a member of the Ukrainian delegation, told Ukrainian public radio station Suspilne that “there is no final version of the document” because some aspects were not addressed in the technical talks in Geneva.

“Some of the most difficult issues will be resolved by presidents. There aren't many, but they are certainly of the highest public interest,” Bevz said.

While a cease-fire was not mentioned as an end point in the draft peace plan the Trump administration has proposed to end the war, Bevz stressed that it remains an important condition for Ukrainians.

“For us, a ceasefire has always been the first, even the zero condition, for the start of the peace process,” the Ukrainian official said.

“Tonight, we are going directly to the president and our work plan for the coming days will be established,” he said, adding that the US side had requested that the details remain withheld from the public until they are finalized.

“I think that in the coming days they will finalize this text. We hope that there will be a communication between the presidents of Ukraine and the United States in the near future, and we would not like to be bound by the deadlines that were previously set,” Bevz said.

The Ukrainian official said that as soon as Ukraine and the United States reach an agreement on the text, the Americans will present it to the Russians as part of the next stage of negotiations.

White House: There is no Trump-Zelenski meeting on the agenda this week

The White House press secretary said on Monday that the talks between the US and Ukraine had been productive and that only “a few points of disagreement” remained, reports Reuters.

Karoline Leavitt said on Fox News that US President Donald Trump is optimistic that an agreement can be reached to end the war.

She noted that no meeting between the US president and his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, is scheduled for this week.

Sources told Reuters that Zelenskiy could travel to the US as soon as this week to discuss sensitive aspects of a plan to end the war in Ukraine with Trump.

The Financial Times wrote that Washington must now decide how and when to present the draft peace agreement to Russia, which no longer resembles the original one. In Geneva, the United States and Ukraine drafted a new 19-point peace deal, but left the most politically sensitive elements to be decided by the presidents of the two countries, according to Ukrainian First Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Kislytia.
