Will Poland host the Olympics? Decisions already in 2028
Borys pointed out that decisions regarding whether Poland will host the Games may be made in 2028. In his opinion, involvement in this project should cover a wide group of people – from sports circles, through local governments, to support from the government and society. “It is supposed to build national pride and fulfill the dream of Polish women and men” – emphasized the deputy minister.
He also noted that Poland has a chance to become a leader in Central and Eastern Europe as the first country in this part of the continent to organize the Summer Olympic Games. In his opinion, our country is currently “a safe and dynamically developing country in the European Union”.
A special working group was established to prepare the application, which will include representatives of key ministries, such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of National Education. Polish sports associations, local governments and the media will also cooperate. The project envisages the involvement of 50,000. volunteers, and one of the priorities will be to develop a feasibility study, which is to play a key role in the application process.

Polish Games. Following the French model
The application model is to be modeled on the solutions used by France when organizing the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024. At that time, six cities and regions were involved in the preparations. Similarly, in Poland, cooperation is planned with cities such as Gdańsk, Poznań, Wrocław, Rzeszów and Kraków, which may become co-hosts of the event. The project will include the creation of residential and training centers, which will be an additional impulse for the development of sports infrastructure in the country.
The final shape of the “Polish Sport Strategy” is to be developed by June, and the government plans to adopt it by the end of next year. Then the application to the IOC will be refined. Deputy Minister Borys emphasized that the project is of a governmental nature, and the experience of other countries shows that such an approach increases the chances of success.
