Mihai Stoica, the president of the Board of Directors at FCSB, admitted that he is in discussions with the central defender Andre Duarte (28 years old), left free of contract after the separation from Ujpest.
The former player from FCU Craiova was also wanted by FCSB in 2023, but Gigi Becali did not then reach an agreement with Adrian Mititelu. Afterwards, Duarte went to Reggiana. He also played in Osijek and Ujpest in the last two years.
He arrived at the Hungarian club in the summer of last year, for 400,000 euros. A year and a half later, he can return to League 1, this time at FCSB, being one of Gigi Becali's favorites two years ago.
Mihai Stoica: “We have always been interested in Duarte”
“We've always been interested. We've been in contact. We've had a discussion. There's nothing concrete at the moment. The list is longer now. We have several players we've started discussions with, we're not just talking to Duarte.
There are many interesting defenders entering the last 6 months of their contracts. If you get along with them, then you get along with the club so they don't lose him for free in the summer.
We will also lose Ngezana, we don't know how long he will be at the African Cup. I have seen players in Portugal who are not Portuguese, with some paths that are not impossible”, said Mihai Stoica, on Prima Sport 1.

Duarte remained free of contract
Andre Duarte announced that he has parted ways with Ujpest, following a conflict with the management of the Hungarian club.
Today I say goodbye to Ujpest. The club that has been my home for the past 16 months. Some things happened that weren't good at all, and a professional footballer doesn't have to go through that. That's why the last 20 days at the club were undoubtedly the hardest of my career.
It wasn't the ending I wanted. I am forced to leave, but I leave the club with my head held high and I am 100% sure that I always gave my best. On and off the field.
