Reuters has not yet been able to obtain comment from the Pakistani Ministry of Military Affairs and Foreign Affairs.

The airstrikes came a day after two suicide bombings killed three paramilitary members in Peshawar, Pakistan.

Pakistani and Afghan troops clashed in October, resulting in dozens of deaths. It was the worst act of violence since the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021.

Both sides signed a ceasefire in Doha in October, however peace talks in Turkey collapsed without reaching a long-term agreement due to misunderstandings regarding militant groups hostile to Pakistan operating in Afghanistan.
