Not Poland at all. Romania is the “star” of the new EU ranking

Eurostat data shows that only 3.7 percent inhabitants of the Bucharest-Ilfov region are at risk of poverty. This is the best result in the entire European Union.

The second best place went to the East Flanders region in Belgium. However, many more residents are exposed to poverty there than in Bucharest – 5.4 percent.

The EU average in 2024 was as much as 16.2%. – Eurostat reported. This is exactly the same as the average in 2023.

One region of Poland has a clear problem

Two regions in Poland performed very well in the ranking – the voivodeship. Silesia and the Warsaw capital region. Interestingly, Silesia fared better than the capital and the surrounding area. In Silesia, 7.6% of people are at risk of poverty. inhabitants, in the Warsaw metropolis – 8 percent, which can be partly explained by the high cost of living in the capital.
