On Saturday, Obor Square turned into the scene of an ad hoc election meeting. That's because three of the candidates bumped into each other among the stalls. It is about Gigi Nețoiu, independent candidate, Anca Alexandrescu, independent candidate, and Cătălin Drula (USR).
While Cătălin Drula went to different shops and ate small meals with those from his party, and Anca Alexandrescu interacted with sellers and customers, Gigi Nețoiu, former financier of Rocar, Craiova University (disaffiliated team), Dinamo and FC Voluntari, preferred to liven up the atmosphere with the “Mambo Syria” band, whose members declared their support for him.

During the election campaign, Gigi Nețoiu decided to turn to his close friends in football. And so far, three have responded to the invitation.
Cosmin Barcauanone of the players that Gigi Nețoiu took from Craiova University to Dinamo, in the summer of 2002, was present with his wife at Nețoiu's event in Piața Obor.
Also from the “Dinamo era”, Gigi Nețoiu co-opted him into his team and Giani Kirițăthe former captain of the “dogs”. He appears in several clips published by the candidate on his Facebook account and even walked the streets of Bucharest with Nețoiu.
“My dears, I support Mrs. Gigi Nețoiu because I have a moral duty to him. He is the man who raised me, the man who brought me to Dinamo. I had him as a leader at Dinamo and I know what he can do. He is a strong man and I support him with all my heart. Good luck! I am with you at any time of the day or night. I know you do what you say”, was Kiriță's message.
And Victor Pițurca had a message of support for Nețoiu: “Congratulations, Gigi! I have great faith in you that you will fight for Bucharest and for the people of Bucharest.”

Gigi Nețoiu entered football in the 90s, when he became the patron of Rocar. In 2000, he left the club, becoming the new financier of Craiova. Along with him, a whole contingent of important players also arrived in Bănie: Dan Alexa, Ciprian Danciu, Daniel Rednic, Marius Mitu, Adrian Pitu, Augustin Călin, Cătălin Crăciunescu, Adrian Baldovin, Daniel Tudor.
-
In 2002, he left Craiova for Dinamo, where he was a co-shareholder, and took an entire team with him, which he put on the “dogs' tray” for free.
Claudiu Niculescu, Flavius Stoican, Cosmin Bărcăuan, Adnan Guso, Mariko Daouda, Cosmin Moți, Ștefan Grigorie, Daniel Tudor, Angelo Alistar, Ciprian Danciu, Ovidiu Burcă, Adrian Baldovin, Mihăiță Pleșan, Ilie Iordache, Ștefan Preda, Viorel Domocoș are the footballers who arrived for free from Craiova to Dinamo during the period when Nețoiu flirted with the club from Stephen the Great.

Nețoiu left Dinamo in 2006, after an argument with the other shareholders.

In 2014, Nețoiu was definitively sentenced to 3 years and 4 months in prison, after being found guilty in the Transfers File. He defrauded the Dinamo club with 403,000 euros. He was released on parole in late 2015.
Mr. Burleanu, who is now president, was an adviser to Mr. Băsescu. And then, with Coldea, with Dîncu and with those who were there before, they arrested us all, through Mrs. Alexandrescu, a judge who was specially brought. After condemning us all, she was promoted. They acquitted us, suspended us and then sentenced us… There was no prejudice! We were neither the first nor the last. Do you know Mr. Băsescu's motto from then? “No one escapes.” They also took Mr. Năstase, teachers, doctors, Mr. Voiculescu. I was totally a victim of the system, because it wasn't just Mr. Băsescu! The first was Coldea, Mrs. Kovesi, Mr. Morar from DNA, plus the great prosecutor Țuluș. He said he read in the newspaper that they don't know what we did and opened this file.
