In Krasnoyarsk, luge athletes Roman Repilov and Alexander Peretyagin were sent to a pre-trial detention center for one month, the joint press service of the courts reported.
They are accused of fraud committed by an organized group or on an especially large scale. The case concerns the misappropriation of about 11 million budget rubles intended for the purchase of sports sleds.
Roman Repilov is a luger athlete, three-time world champion (2020 and 2021), three-time medalist of the 2017 World Championship, six-time medalist of the European Championships, two-time World Cup winner (2016/17 and 2019/20), three-time winner of the World Cup sprint competition (2016/17, 2018/19, 2019/20). In addition, he is an individual entrepreneur.
Alexander Peretyagin is a luger athlete who has been competing for the Russian national team since 2012, silver medalist of the championship
Europe 2015 in singles competitions. He works at the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Sports Training Center for Russian National Teams” as a specialist in the preparation of sports equipment.
The regional Investigative Committee added that an investigation is underway into the case against the former director and coach of the Olympic reserve luge sports school, as well as two athletes – residents of the Moscow region. They are accused of fraud committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy on an especially large scale. The case was initiated on the basis of materials from the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
According to the investigation, in May 2025, a contract was concluded between the sports school and one of the athletes, an individual entrepreneur, for the supply of new sports equipment and equipment for the needs of the school. The cost of the contract was more than 10 million rubles. The defendants in the case found used and existing equipment and prepared the necessary documentation to participate in the auction. As a result, the sports school was supplied with used equipment that did not meet the terms of the contract.
The former director and coach of the sports school pleaded guilty to the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
