The countdown to the day of Radu Drăgușin's return (23 years old) is coming to an end. The Tottenham centre-back was mentioned today by manager Thomas Frank at his press conference ahead of Sunday's Arsenal derby.

Tottenham's coach also spoke at the meeting with English journalists about the situation of the players who are preparing to rejoin the team after long-term injuries, on which occasion he also answered the question related to the situation of Radu Drăgușin.

The Romanian international was used for a half-time in the middle of last week by Spurs and the way he moved gives him an increasing chance of being called up to the Londoners' squad.

“Drăgusin is fully involved and fully trains”

“Yes, very happy,” declared Thomas Frank.

“He's probably been doing this for a couple of weeks, he's training fully, he's involved as much as possible, he's doing everything with the team.

He played his first 45 minutes in nine months last Wednesday, so after a long break, and I'm very happy with him. Drăgusin trained from one end to the other of today's session without any problems.

Certainly, he is very close to being summoned. It's just a matter of performance and he's probably just a few more minutes away from being fully available,” the coach added.

Radu Drăgușin suffered a serious knee injury at the end of January, in a match in the last group stage of the Europa League, and then underwent cruciate ligament surgery.

He missed the rest of the 2024-2025 season, in which Tottenham won the aforementioned competition, and the first three months of the current season.

“We want to show that Romania deserves to be at the World Cup!”

Drăgușin hopes to help the national team in March, when the play-offs for WC 2026 are played. After the draw in Zurich, where Romania found out that they face Turkey in the semi-finals in Istanbul, the 23-year-old stopper wrote on social networks:

“We are aware that a very difficult duel awaits us against Turkey, but our goal remains unchanged: qualifying for the World Championship.

We have faith in our group, in our day-to-day work and in the energy we have, first of all, from the fans. We want to show that Romania deserves to be at the World Cup and we will do everything in our power to get there“.
