The Ukrainian squatted continuously for more than an hour and set a record. How many repetitions could she do?

It is noted that this is the first such record among women. Yarichuk dedicated her result to her father, a soldier of the 57th separate motorized infantry brigade Vitaly Medvedsky, who died in April 2023 near Bakhmut, Donetsk region.

The head of the national register of records of Ukraine, Lana Vetrova, reported on Facebook on November 20 that Yarichuk intended to perform at least 2 thousand squats.

How the athlete prepared to set a record

According to Yarichuk, she started training a year and a half ago.

“The first time I came to training and just squatted 200 times – and nothing. Then 500, 1000, 1200, 1500, 1800. At one of the training sessions I already did 1800 squats,” she said. “A similar record among women in Ukraine did not exist before. There are among men, among children, but among women – this is the first case.”

Yarichuk noted that when the record was set, the most difficult was the first thousand squats.

“The first thousand were very difficult. There was no air, there were a lot of people in the school, it was stuffy. Then they asked everyone to leave – and it became easier,” she explained.

How the record was recorded

“The main requirement was not only continuity, but also perfect technique,” said Vetrova.

Specialists monitored the exercise throughout the entire process.

“We monitored the technique together with the coach. If something needed correction, we immediately paid attention. After the first hour, we thought that the record would be stopped because the load was huge. But Karina managed it,” added the head of the national register of records of Ukraine.

Yarichuk’s result will be included in the National Register of Records.
