— The funerals of the victims of the attack are taking place today. This little girl died in her mother's arms. Both burned down – said Fr. in a telephone interview with PAP. Ivan Siczkaryk from the Greek Catholic parish of St. Michael the Archangel in Tarnopol.

A Russian drone hit the house where Amelia lived. This happened on Wednesday, when Russia launched a massive attack using drones and missiles on Ternopil and other cities in western Ukraine.

Fr. Siczkaryk told PAP that he learned from the girl's godmother that she was born in Rzeszów. According to the priest, Amelia's father, a Pole, often visited her and her mother in Tarnopol.

Amelia was a second-grade student of Tarnopol school No. 27. “Terrible news hit school No. 27. Unfortunately, the information about the death of a student of class 2-W, Amelia (…), and her mother Oksana were confirmed. Hugging each other, they burned alive as a result of an enemy rocket attack,” the school wrote on its Facebook profile.

“Our entire school family mourns this irreversible loss: Amelia, a bright girl, a little Angel, will never again sit at a school desk, hug her classmates, or illuminate the world with her warm look. We pay deep tribute to their memory, share the family's pain and grief,” the school emphasized.

Maciej Wewiór, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced the death of a Polish citizen in Tarnopol on Friday. “On the night of November 18-19, Russia attacked civilians in Tarnopol. Among the victims of this brutality is Amelka, a 7-year-old Polish citizen,” wrote the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman.
