The USR candidate for the Capital City Hall, Cătălin Drula, stated on Prima TV that he will not give up his candidacy for the General City Hall, showing that Bucharest needs a candidacy that represents the fight against the tentacles of party mafias. He criticized the two counter-candidates from PSD and PNL, whom they accused of tolerating the constructions of real estate speculators, made in violation of urban planning rules.

Asked what could lead him to withdraw his candidacy for the position of general mayor of the Capital, Cătălin Drula answered: “Nothing”.

“Bucharest needs a candidacy that represents the fight against the real estate mafia, with all the harm that was done to this city by the tentacles of the party mafias. I am very confident in our candidacy, I am also confident in what will follow after December 7, because it is only a first step, it is the battle for the mayor's office, but with the partnership that we have and have, the USR, with Nicuşor Dan, I want to shake from the foundations of some systems that have been poorly tailored since the time of Adrian Năstase and I want us to shake a little and shake all this immobility, some bad budget systems, systems that let the city be destroyed with PUZs that my opponents Băluţă and Ciucu also bought”, added Cătălin Drula, quoted by News.ro.

He said that the two counter-candidates who represent PSD and PNL and who hold positions of sector mayors have acted in similar ways in the sectors they administer, in terms of urban development.

“Băluţă and Ciucu both in their sectors allowed real estate speculators to build in contempt of the general rules of urban planning. It is a fact that was also affirmed by the President of Romania Nicusor Dan when he said that the real estate mafia found fertile ground in the sectors”, added Cătălin Drula, giving concrete examples of controversial real estate projects that developed in sectors 4 and 6 and saying that they represent the evidence of his claims.

Drula recalled that his two opponents ran together last year in last year's local elections and made the campaign strategy together. Referring to his opponent from the PNL, Drula said that he does not believe that Ciucu is corrupt, but “turns his head”

“I don't think Mr. Ciucu is corrupt, he personally, I don't think he took bribes, unlike what we see from the other parties, but it's a way of turning your head and a way of seeing politics where you close your eyes to evil, turn your head. I know Ciprian well, we've had many beers together. He has a deep belief that to do something you have to turn your head, which really exists a lot in our society as well. I have a fundamentally different creed, I think that you have to give a model of verticality as a leader and especially as a leader of Bucharest”, said Cătălin Drula.
