The increase in tariffs for UZ cargo transportation will destroy the economy and defense.
The National Association of Extractive Industries called on the parliament to give Ukrzaliznytsia budgetary funding per passenger – otherwise there will be problems in both the economy and the defense sector.
According to forecasts, the losses of the UZ passenger segment in 2026 will reach UAH 24 billion. Covering them at the expense of freight transportation, as was done before, will not work – the industry will simply begin to close. And this means fewer jobs and less money in the budget.
In fact, this also means that UZ will receive losses instead of the money it is counting on. And covering the passenger will be absolutely nothing.
