When neighbors wrap roses in spruce branches, some experienced summer residents use a simple pharmaceutical preparation that guarantees 100% wintering even for capricious varieties. We are talking about glycine tablets – a nootropic agent that works as a natural anti-stress for plants.
Glycine helps roses withstand frost and temperature changes more easily. It strengthens plants from the inside, making them more resilient. Thanks to this, roses not only winter better, but also wake up more actively in the spring.
- At the end of October, dig a 15 cm deep circular groove around the bush.
- Distribute 3-4 glycine tablets evenly.
- Sprinkle with earth and spill with water.
- For climbing roses, increase the dose to 6 tablets.
Already next spring, roses awaken two weeks earlier than usual: their stems remain clean, without traces of frost damage. The bushes are actively producing new powerful shoots, and the number of buds almost doubles. It seems as if the plants have received a charge of vitality; they bloom magnificently and for a long time, delighting with their rich color and ideal bud shape.
In regions with frosts below -25°C, additional shelter will still be required. For young bushes, two tablets are enough, and for better results it is recommended to hill up the root collar. The main thing is to do it before the soil freezes so that the glycine has time to take effect.
