In Germany, a church bell weighing 300 kg was stolen on the second attempt

According to media reports, two weeks ago there was already an attempt to steal the bell. Then unknown persons removed the bell mounting bracket, probably during welding work. As a result, the bell fell from a low height. A nearby parish worker heard the noise, and the thieves fled.

The bell was returned to its place, but now it is gone. It is still unknown whether the same persons are involved in his disappearance. Police are looking for possible witnesses.

In comments to local media Buten un Binnen, a church spokesman said the stolen bell was part of an ensemble of four bells. They were removed from the church tower when it had to be demolished several years ago due to its poor condition. Since then, the smallest bell has hung low to the ground, in what is known as the Bell Memorial. Those who wished could call it, the article says.
