Donald Trump allegedly supported a “peace” plan for Ukraine

The station reported that the plan had been quietly developed in recent weeks by leading representatives of the administration and had been consulted with Vladimir Putin's envoy Kirill Dmitriev and representatives of the Ukrainian authorities.
Trump's representative Steve Witkoff, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the president's son-in-law Jared Kushner were involved in developing the plan, an NBC News source maintains.
However, according to a source close to the Ukrainian government and according to a European official familiar with the matter, Ukraine did not participate in the development of the plan. Kyiv was informed about the outlines of the project, but not the details. Ukraine was not asked for its contribution to the project, sources also said.
The source believes that the timing of this proposal, which coincides with the corruption scandal in Ukraine, is not accidental. Ukrainian officials believe that the Kremlin may be trying to take advantage of the weakened position of the Ukrainian leadership.
“The plan focuses on providing security guarantees to both sides to ensure long-term peace,” said a US administration official. “It contains things that Ukraine wants and needs for long-term peace,” he added.
The person did not provide details about the plan, which is still subject to some negotiations with interested parties, NBC News reported.
Three U.S. officials told NBC News that the framework for the peace agreement has yet to be presented to Ukrainians, and that the completion of work on the project coincided with the visit of the U.S. delegation to Ukraine.
