Philippe Clement (51), the former manager of Rangers' Ianis Hagi (27), has found a new commitment, nine months after being sacked by the Scottish club. He will coach Norwich, the penultimate team (23), in the Championship.
The announcement was made by the English club through official channels. The agreement would be valid at least until 2029.
Dismissed by Rangers, where he coached Ianis Hagi, Philippe Clement was introduced to Norwich: “Welcome!”
In the summer of 2024, Ianis Hagi was sent to Rangers' second team. Clement was a coach at the time. The reason? The midfielder was one game away from his 100th game for Rangers, which would have automatically triggered the pay rise.
He was eventually reinstated into the Rangers first team, but both left in the following months. Ianis ended up at Alanyaspor, and Clement at Norwich.
“The wait is over. Welcome to Norwich City, Philippe Clement! The Belgian has agreed to become our new head coach on a contract until 2029,” the Championship club announced.
“I am very excited about this opportunity. I have known this club for a long time and even though we are going through a difficult time now, we are looking forward to working with the players and the squad to turn things around“, said Clement, for the club's official website.

Norwich are in a complicated situation. It is in 23rd place, penultimate in the Championship, with only 9 points accumulated after 15 matches. The last victory of the “Canaries” dates back to August 30, a 2-0 win at Blackburn.
Genk, Club Brugge, Monaco and Rangers are the clubs he played for throughout his career. He will make his debut on November 22 when Norwich travel to Birmingham.
