At the beginning of September, “Gazeta Wyborcza” reported mysterious gifts that President Karol Nawrocki and his family were to receive from businessman Rafał Brzoska and his wife Omena Mensah.
Already then, the Watchdog Polska Civic Network pointed out that information about gifts falls under the right to information and everyone has the right to know what benefits politicians accept. “It doesn't matter whether it's in the private or public sphere, because gifts are related to who performs what functions,” she emphasized.

It exists in Polish law Benefits Register for persons holding public functions, including, among others, high-level officials. Pursuant to the Act, a register is created in which benefits (e.g. donations, trips, positions) obtained by persons performing public functions and their spouses are disclosed.
It didn't end there. “We filed a complaint in the administrative court about the inaction of the Chancellery of the President in providing information. We are waiting for its consideration, but the Chancellery of the President has already requested that our complaint be dismissed – admitted Szymon Osowski from the Watchdog Polska Civic Network in the Monday text of “Rzeczpospolita”.
Gifts from Omena Mensah for Karol Nawrocki. “Modest but thoughtful”

At the same time, she denied the original reports about 20 gifts, pointing out that they were in fact given three small packages containing symbolic souvenir and sentimental gifts – including puzzles and small items from Ghanathe country of Omena Mensah's roots, where her Omenaa Foundation operates, supporting children freed from slave labor.
