We have submitted a request to the Police Headquarters for consent to prosecute MP Sławomir Mentzen for an offense – the spokesman for the Warsaw Police Commander, Junior Insp., told PAP. Robert Szumiata.

Sławomir Mentzen lit a flare at the Independence March despite the ban on using pyrotechnics. In the photo he published on social media, you can see that he is holding a burning flare in his hand.
The police also published images of other participants who fired smoke flares and used pyrotechnics during the march.
The Police Headquarters, which receives the application, will analyze it and then – if it finds it justified – will send a request to hold the MP accountable through the Prosecutor General to the Speaker of the Sejm.
On November 11, 43 people were detained – some of them for drug possession, others were wanted for months in connection with other crimes.
The police seized nearly 800 flares, stun grenades and other pyrotechnics, as well as several knives and machetes. (PAP)
