After losing the final to Jannik Sinner in northern Italy, Carlos and his team arrived in Bologna on Monday, the venue for the Davis Cup final, and the world number one looked for options to continue the competition.
However, an MRI identified muscle edema in the right hamstring. Unwilling to take any chances after a grueling 80-match season, Alcaraz made the difficult decision to withdraw from Davis Cup.
