The press from Spain announced on the night of Monday to Tuesday that the tennis player Carlos Alcaraz (22 years old, 1 ATP), has finished his season and will not participate in the Davis Cup.

The Spaniard made a difficult decision to withdraw from the Davis Cup after suffering physical problems at the Turin Tournament of Champions, according to copa.es. The Final 8 will take place between November 18-23. Italy, Austria, Spain, Czech Republic, France, Belgium, Argentina and Germany are the participants.

Carlos Alcaraz withdrew from the Davis Cup due to a medical problem

The news that marked the beginning of this Tuesday, November 18, comes from Spain, where local media announced that Alcaraz has withdrawn from the Davis Cup finals due to an injury suffered at the Tournament of Champions in Turin.

After losing the final to Jannik Sinner in northern Italy, Carlos and his team arrived in Bologna on Monday, the venue for the Davis Cup final, and the world number one looked for options to continue the competition.

However, an MRI identified muscle edema in the right hamstring. Unwilling to take any chances after a grueling 80-match season, Alcaraz made the difficult decision to withdraw from Davis Cup. Thus, the colors of the “Red Fury” will be defended in this competition by Jaume Munar and Pablo Carreno Busta in singles, respectively Marcel Granollers and Pedro Martínez in doubles.

Despite a perfect run with three group wins, Carlos suffered problems with his right leg during the group stage in Turin. The situation did not improve in the semi-final against Félix Auger-Aliassime either, although the Spaniard achieved another convincing victory.

As expected, the intensity of the final against Sinner made the discomfort peak. Alcaraz called a medical time-out toward the end of the first set and played the second set with a bandaged right hamstring.
