The Kazakh airline SCAT Airlines plans to launch flights between the third most populous metropolis of Kazakhstan, Shymkent, and Russian Krasnoyarsk in December. If necessary, Astana is ready to consider applications for other flights, the Republic's Ministry of Transport told TASS.
“Starting from December of this year, SCAT airline plans to launch new flights in the Shymkent – Krasnoyarsk direction,” the department’s response to the agency’s request says.
The Ministry of Transport added that agreements between the countries on air services currently allow carriers of both countries to operate up to 20 flights per week on each side.
“This year [российской] Red Wings Airlines has opened new flights to the city of Aktau (Aktau – Yekaterinburg, Aktau – Samara, Aktau – Kazan). <...> If applications are received from Russian airlines, the Ministry [транспорта Казахстана] “is ready to issue the appropriate permits within the framework of existing agreements,” the message says.
