Localities in 13 counties were under weather warnings of dense fog on Saturday, a common phenomenon for this period. According to meteorologist Mihai Huștiu from the National Meteorological Administration, in these conditions the temperatures also evolve differently – if in the plains they do not exceed 8-9 degrees at noon, in the mountains a particularly warm weather is expected for this period, with temperatures above 15 degrees. From Wednesday, the weather will cool across the country.

Weather warnings of dense fog were issued by meteorologists on Saturday for localities in 13 counties: Gorj, Olt, Vâlcea, Dolj, Mehedinți, Alba, Cluj, Sibiu, Sălaj, Bistrița-Năsăud, Covasna, Brașov and Mureș.

Meteorologist Mihai Huștiu from the National Meteorological Administration explained to Digi24 that fog is a common phenomenon at this time of the year, when the low relief areas remain colder and then the humidity is higher.

Beautiful weather in the mountains

“We are talking about thermal inversion. This thermal inversion means that the temperature, instead of decreasing with height, increases with height. And this morning there were high temperatures in the mountains and low temperatures in the plains. There is fog and low cloudiness here in the plain area, including the Capital, and especially in the south and southeast of the country, while in the hills and mountains it is sunny weather, with a more clear sky”, he the ANM meteorologist explained.

According to him, in such conditions the temperatures evolve differently – if the temperatures in the plains do not exceed 8-9 degrees at noon, in the mountains a particularly hot weather is expected for this period. There will be temperatures of over 15 degrees and even 20 degrees on Saturday in the hilly area, both in the south and in the western part of the country.

And in Valea Prahova there will be temperatures of 15-16 degrees Celsius.

“We will have the same weather picture on Sunday, also in the south-southeast part, fog, stratiform cloudiness and a predominantly cloudy weather, while in the hills and in the mountains sunny weather. Tomorrow, however, clouds will also appear in the north and northwest of the country, where it could rain weakly and transiently,” said meteorologist Mihai Huștiu.

Big temperature swings next week

According to the meteorologist from ANM, warm weather will be maintained in most of the country on Monday, with few exceptions, but from Monday evening it is expected that a cold atmospheric front will advance from Central Europe. Associated with this cold front, there will be rains in the west and north-west of the country, and on Tuesday these rains will cover the center and north of the country, and in the evening the south.

“On Tuesday, there will still be high temperatures, up to 19 degrees, in the south-east of the country, but in the west the weather is cooling. This cold front brings temperatures down significantly – only 6-7 degrees in the north-west of the country, and on Wednesday the cooling process will be generalized throughout the country and there will be a sharp cooling. In the capital, it is expected to rain from Tuesday evening.

Next week will be with big alternations. If in the middle of the week we wait for this cooling, from Thursday, from November 20 to 22, the weather may warm up again”, the meteorologist said.
