Krasnoyarsk has decided on the opening date of the main city Christmas tree

The opening date of the main Christmas tree in Krasnoyarsk has become known. The acting head of the city, Roman Odintsov, signed a resolution on celebrating the New Year.

The lights on the main city tree and on the territory of the ice town in Tatyshev Park will be solemnly lit on December 26. A festive theatrical program will be prepared for residents with the participation of creative groups. In the regions, the opening of Christmas trees will take place earlier – from December 22 to 25.

The head of the city's Christmas tree will be held in Krasnoyarsk at the end of December in the Youth Theater. It will be open to 4th grade students who have high academic achievements and socially useful activities.

More than 70 thousand gifts were prepared for the children of participants in the special military operation, as well as primary school students and children in difficult social situations. New Year trees will also be held in educational institutions – kindergartens and schools.

“Traditionally, city residents and children will be able to take part in special creative competitions – making a carnival mask, New Year’s toys and compositions in the New Year’s Kaleidoscope competition. And in kindergartens they will choose Santa Claus's little helpers – Frost and Snow Maiden. You can spend time with your family at the “Winter Fun at the Residence of Father Frost” events on Tatyshev Island and the skating rink on Strelka,” the mayor’s office recalled.

Also, as part of the New Year celebrations, two festivals will be held – the X Open Festival-Competition of Snow and Ice Sculptures “Magic Ice of Siberia” and the XX Winter Surikov Arts Festival. The first will be held from January 6 to 17 on Teatralnaya Square and Central Embankment. It is planned to decorate the spaces of the lower and upper tiers of the embankment with the help of three ice galleries with paintings by Krasnoyarsk artists.

The XX Winter Surikov Arts Festival will be held from January 12 to 24. These days, Krasnoyarsk residents will be able to get acquainted with the work and life of the artist through visiting museums, exhibitions, performances and excursion programs.
