The authorities of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug plan to expand the list of days when retail sales of alcohol are prohibited. As reported by Yamal 1, local and all-Russian dates may be added to existing federal holidays.
According to the new bill, Children's Day (June 1), Sportsman's Day and Knowledge Day (September 1) will become completely alcohol-free. The ban will also affect traditional Yamal holidays – Reindeer Herder's Day and Fisherman's Day, the dates of which will be set by local authorities.
Municipalities will retain the right to independently determine the days of the ban on the sale of alcohol during the celebration of last calls, days of cities and towns. As the authors of the initiative explain, such measures are aimed at creating a unified legal space in the region and strengthening public order.
