In Krasnoyarsk, a 43-year-old man was convicted of stealing a laptop from a marketplace pick-up point. This was reported to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the region.
In November last year, an employee at a pick-up point at one of the marketplaces contacted the police department with a report that a laptop had been stolen. The man said that he left work hours unattended for some time, and when he returned, he discovered that the equipment was missing.
Criminal investigation officers seized video footage from a surveillance camera. After looking through it, the police determined that the Krasnoyarsk resident, who had been previously convicted more than once for property crimes, was involved in the theft.
A criminal case was initiated under Part 2 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Theft”.
“During the investigation, it was established that the attacker entered the delivery point to ask for a package. Seeing that there was no one in the room, the attacker took a computer from the table, which he sold to a pawnshop for 4,500 rubles. He spent the money he received for personal needs,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
During the investigation, the stolen property was seized and returned to its rightful owner.
The court found the man guilty and sentenced him to one and a half years of suspended imprisonment.
