Lille will take their supporters to court

Lille intends to take legal action against a part of its supporters, following serious incidents that happened at matches in the domestic championship, but also in European cups. It's about the matches with Red Star Belgrade and Strasbourg, both away, where the French supporters addressed several racist chants.

During Monday evening, in an official statement, Lille unequivocally condemned the racist incidents at the matches with Red Star Belgrade and Starsbourg.

These actions are unacceptable and completely contrary to the values our club stands for and constantly promotes. Despite the many awareness and prevention initiatives implemented by the LOSC to combat all forms of discrimination, some individuals deliberately choose to exploit away matches to hijack the football scene and express their hatred.

These individuals will never be welcomed into the LOSC community and cannot in any way be considered supporters as their actions are in direct contradiction to the ethics and fundamental principles of the club and its community. Most of these behaviors were spontaneously reported by (real) LOSC supporters themselves, via the reporting platform established by the Club in 2023, as well as on social media. LOSC sincerely thanks those who contributed to these reports, demonstrating their commitment and values, which they share with the club. Concrete measures were initiated this morning.

A procedure to identify the people involved is underway, with a view to submitting more complaints to the police. LOSC intends to take legal action against them and obtain appropriate sanctions. Regardless of the outcome of these proceedings, the Club will issue in-stadium trading bans, with immediate effect, against the individuals identified in the coming days, in accordance with the provisions of the Larrivé law.

Supporters in France are known for such behaviour. Over the years, several clubs in the country have been sanctioned due to racist chants.
