CONTEXT:

• 4-5 footballers from Metaloglobus would have made several accounts on betting sites, through a staff member, and would have bet including against their team, prosport.ro revealed on Monday.

• One of the indicated matches is the one with Oțelul, where the group of players would have bet “10,000 euros only on the fact that we will score at least two goals in the first half”;

• The Integrity Department of the FRF has already started the investigations regarding the Metaloglobus matches.

• Today, a new element in the scandal: a former employee of the staff makes startling testimony, claiming that he came to the team precisely to gather information to improve his chances of winning at bets!

The cited source publishes today the testimony of a “former masseur, left the team a month ago, after a scandal with Mihai Teja's second-in-command”.

The Metaloglobus scandal takes on new proportions: “I have 6-7 accounts. I am a man who bets daily”

Without giving his name, the character makes explosive statements, speaking very casually about what happened. He gives details about the duel with Oțelul, lost 0-4, but also about the white draw with Craiova University, in which he says he had a damage of 75,000 euros.

Moreover, he states that he came to the formation in the Pantelimon neighborhood just to gather information and have a better chance of winning!

He adds that the players of the Ilfov team should not be involved in this matter and that he is not interested in the possible repercussions, as he is determined not to be active in football anymore. However, he admits that he loaned the players small amounts until he received the salary, blaming the financial situation of the team.

It doesn't say that anywhere in my contract from the football team! I am a masseur. It's a modest contract of 3,000 lei, I haven't read it nor am I interested. I came here for pleasure…;

• I came to Metaloglobus after selling 6 of my massage parlors. I wanted to relax. And by coming to Metaloglobus, I actually gathered information to win at betting;

• Football players have no business, and for that it will have to be proven that it is so. The police, the FRF, I have no idea who. I know that there is a file at the FRF on this topic, I have known for three weeks, but they have nothing to do with me.

• It's my right to play, nobody forbids me. If the FRF give me a sports fine, let them be healthy! Anyway, I don't need to be active in football anymore. I've had enough;

• I played in the match with Oțelul, with at least 3 goals in the match. When Huiban missed the penalty I grimaced on the bench, it didn't suit me. I've never spoken to footballers about betting, don't mix them up;

Well, apart from the games with FCSB and Craiova, in all of them there were at least 2-3 goals in the first half when Metaloglobus played;

• Think that I knew all the problems here, in terms of injuries and so on… Isn't it logical that we still win? Not always, it's true. I play for goals, rarely for a team's victory;

• I make money from this, from this and from poker I live. I don't play chess, I don't like it, otherwise any sport, but only for money. We play for 2 lei, but let it be money. Otherwise I can't. I challenge you too, to any sport. But we don't play for nothing! For money.”

“I was kicked out by Mihai Teja, after swearing by the dead for a second”

A month ago, he left the team. He claims, however, that the reason for the “rupture” was determined by a conflict with Teja's “second-in-command” (no. Cristian Ghinoiu, according to lpf.ro)at the end of which he was told that one of them had to leave the team.

What the president of Metaloglobus says

Marius Burcă, the president of Metaloglobus, reacted after the appearance of these revelations and starts from the premise of innocence, believing that he does not take into account what happened. Even so, he wants the situation to be analyzed in depth, announcing the start of an internal investigation.

“These things seem very serious to me and should be tried. Until I see exactly what it is about or until we analyze it, there is no point in making any statement, I have always been against these things. I don't think for a second that any player would have bet. Of course we will document and do an internal investigation. There are two things, they either come with evidence and someone pays, or whoever makes those accusations pays.

God forbid, who would do such a thing?! Can anyone be so crazy as to have the guts to make such a claim without being backed up by something?!

From my point of view, these are serious things, whoever says this must prove it, we proved that we played on the field. There is no official statement there. When I see it and have a discussion, then I can comment more, now we have to see if it's nonsense, a grain of truth… we have to see what it's about”, said Burcă, quoted by iamsport.ro.

Metaloglobus has a player suspended in the past for betting

In March 2023, a huge scandal broke out in League 1. Cosmin Achim was fired from Petrol, being suspected of betting on his team's matches when he was at FC Voluntari. In June 2023, the centre-back was suspended for one year from football by the FRF.

In September 2024, after the expiration of the suspension, Achim signed with ACS Sport Team, a team from League 3. And in January 2025, he arrived at Agricola Borcea, also in the third tier. In the summer he signed with Metaloglobus.
