November is a critical month for ficus. It loses leaves even without drafts, it seems sick, and many decide that the flower needs to rest. But in fact, the plant does not rest, but loses strength due to dust on the leaves and dry air. But right now the basis for spring growth is being formed.
This is what experienced gardeners do: once every 10 days they wipe the ficus leaves with a weak infusion of banana peel.
How to prepare and use:
- Take the peel of 1 banana.
- Pour 1 liter of warm water and let it brew for 24 hours.
- Strain. Soak a soft cloth or sponge in the infusion.
- Gently wipe the top and bottom of each leaf, moving from the petiole to the tip.
- Repeat every 10-12 days in November and December.
Banana peel is a source of potassium, magnesium and organic acids, which improve leaf respiration, strengthen cell walls, repel spider mites and do not disturb the soil pH.
Already in January you will notice that the leaves have become denser, darker, and the new ones are larger. And by March the ficus will begin to grow without “bald” areas.
Question and answer:
Why does the ficus shed its leaves in November?
The main reasons: dry air from batteries, lack of light and dust on the leaves, which interferes with breathing. This is not a disease, but stress. Regularly rubbing the leaves helps the plant “breathe” and maintain strength.
Why shouldn't you use chemicals to make leaves shine?
Shine products clog the stomata on the leaves, the plant stops breathing and loses resistance to pests.
