Industry should become the basis of Ukraine's recovery: one worker in metallurgy gives work to eight more people.
Even during the war, the mining and metallurgical complex and related industries make up about 6% of GDP, and by 2022 this figure will exceed 10%. This was discussed at the Western Ukrainian Business Forum in Ivano-Frankivsk, which brought together representatives of business, government and investment structures.
“One worker in metallurgy creates up to eight jobs in related sectors. In the mining industry, this indicator is 1:4. Therefore, every workplace in the industry is a multiplier of economic stability,” says Metinvest.
Our industry has significant potential for development, because Ukraine has strategic reserves of iron ore, which Europe lacks. This gives us the opportunity to create a strategic synergy – Ukrainian raw materials and European investments.
However, in order to develop the economy on an industrial basis, state support is needed – a transparent tariff policy and access to markets.
