The thief from Otopeni: a man arrested after stealing the luggage of foreigners at the airport. What else did the police find on him?

On November 3, the police detained a man suspected of committing three acts of theft. According to the authorities, the individual stole the luggage of an Indian citizen and a Ukrainian in Otopeni Airport, as well as the belongings of a woman who was in a place of worship in Bucharest.

“On November 3, 2025, the policemen of the Henri Coandă Air Transport Police Service, together with policemen from the Bucharest Regional Transport Police Section – Bucharest Railway Transport Police Bureau North Station, detected in the North Station and brought to the headquarters a man, suspected of committing three acts of theft (1 – qualified theft and 2 – theft).

According to the authorities, on November 3, the officers of the Henri Coandă Air Transport Police Service were alerted, through a complaint, by an Indian citizen who was robbed of a troller containing several personal belongings, the damage being estimated at 1,500 lei.

On the same day, the police received a complaint from a Ukrainian citizen, who complained that, while he was in the airport, a gray backpack with several personal belongings was stolen from him, the damage being about 700 euros.

Shortly after, following the checks carried out, the police identified the person suspected of committing the acts, being a man.

Following the exchange of information with the police officers from the General Directorate of Police of the Municipality of Bucharest – Police Section 3, it turned out that the suspect was at the intersection of Calea Griviței Street and Bd. Gheorghe Duca in the Capital.

He, intoxicated and carrying the stolen troller and backpack, declared that he would have stolen them from the airport.

The police recovered the goods stolen by the man, including clothes, documents and bank cards, as well as those of a woman robbed in a place of worship in Bucharest.

The suspect, accused of three thefts, was detained and subsequently remanded in custody for 30 days.
