Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski announced on Thursday that he had submitted testimony to the National Prosecutor's Office as a victim in the case of the use of Pegasus. I hope that law and justice will be brought to justice for those responsible for using cyber weapons against political rivals, Sikorski emphasized.

The investigation into Pegasus is being conducted by a special investigation team no. 3 at the National Prosecutor's Office, which is checking the use of this software in Poland. The proceedings concern the abuse of powers or failure to fulfill duties by public officials in this case, and include, among others: issues of legality, justification, purposefulness and proportionality of operational and reconnaissance activities undertaken with the help of Pegasus.

The investigation also concerns taking illegal actions “aimed at unjustified use of the Pegasus program against specific persons for reasons other than prevention, detection, identification of perpetrators“.

“I gave testimony to the National Prosecutor's Office as a victim in the case of the use of Pegasus. The gang got excited by reading my private conversations,” Sikorski wrote on Thursday on the X platform.

The head of the Ministry of Diplomacy also expressed hope that those responsible for using cyber weapons against political rivals will be brought to justice.

At the end of October, Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed that his wife and daughter had been questioned in the investigation into illegal surveillance of the Pegasus system and had the status of witnesses. The head of government assured that he did not intend to interfere in the activities of the prosecutor's office and did not have access to the proceedings materials.

According to information announced at the turn of 2021/2022 by the Citizen Lab Pegasus group operating at the University of Toronto, the following people were under surveillance: attorney Roman Giertych (currently also a KO MP), prosecutor Ewa Wrzosek and the then KO senator Krzysztof Brejza (currently an MEP), as well as the leader of AgroUnia Michał Kołodziejczak. Information also appeared in public circulation that prominent PiS politicians were among the people under surveillance. (PAP)
