In Russia, fines for traffic violations may increase from January 1, 2025
The Russian government made a corresponding proposal to amend the Code of Administrative Offenses (CAO), media reports.
— So, the fine for not wearing a seat belt will be increased from 1000 to 1500 rubles;
— For driving a vehicle while intoxicated, violators will be charged 45,000 rubles instead of 30,000; similar changes will apply to the fine for refusing a medical examination;
— Speeding: the range of fines will change from 500–5000 rubles to 750–7500 rubles, depending on the degree of speeding;
— It is also proposed to change the terms of payment of fines. Drivers will be able to pay 75% of the fine within 30 days. Now they have the opportunity to pay 50% of the collection within 20 days.
